SANGEANG, INDONESIA – MAY 30: Mount Sangeang Api spews pyroclastic smoke on May 30, 2014, in Sangeang, Indonesia.

MOUNT SANGEANG API can be seen spewing pyroclastic smoke high into the air from the window of a passing commercial flight. The pictures were taken by professional photographer Sofyan Efendi during a flight from Bali to Labuan Bajo in West Nusa Tenggara province. The flight offered Efendi the chance to get a unique vantage point on the volcanic activity, with the entire outline of the island of visible beneath the smoke. The volcano, located on one of the Lesser Sunda Islands, is one of 129 active volcanoes in Indonesia.
